Following the publication of his autobiography last year, and his pirate captain persona on Andy Samberg Saturday Night Live shorts, how does the world see notable New Haven native and pop culture punchline Michael Bolton these days?

Well, here’s a press release from a prestigious gig he’s bagged for this December in Switzerland.

ST. MORITZ, Switzerland, November 5, 2013 – Pop singer Michael Bolton will perform live in-concert at Badrutt’s Palace Hotel on December 27th, 2013, as part of the In Concert@Badrutt’s Palace series. The versatile singer has won two Grammy awards, has sold over 53 million albums worldwide and earned a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He has also guest starred on the successful CBS show “Two and a Half Men,” and earned a place on People Magazine’s “Sexiest Men Alive” list in 2012.

The successful concert series In Concert@Badrutt’s Palace was launched in 2012 and continues to delight guests and residents this winter. Renowned artists will perform in the Embassy Ballroom of the legendary Badrutt’s Palace Hotel, where Marlene Dietrich once enthralled audiences.

This will be Michael Bolton’s first appearance in St. Moritz, the glamorous Alpine resort in the Engadin Alps. Mr. Bolton is the winner of six American Music Awards with hits such as “How am I supposed to live without you“ (1989) and “Said I loved you…but I lied” (1993). In 1997, “Go the Distance,“ his theme song for the Disney-cartoon “Hercules“ was nominated for an Academy Award. He has performed with international stars such as Placido Domingo, Luciano Pavarotti and Ray Charles and cooperated on lyrics with stars such as Lady Gaga and Bob Dylan. He dedicates much of his spare time to his charity, The Michael Bolton Charities, a non-profit organization that supports children and women at risk of poverty, abuse, neglect, homelessness, and domestic violence.

Bolton’s come a long way from the New Haven destitution he recounts in his bio. Hasn’t played Toad’s Place in decades either.
